Course Objectives To introduce students in principles and application of various contemporary materials in building construction, and especially in finishig level. Students will be familiar with the proper use of main construction and finish work materials in construction process.
Textbook Mehta, M. Building construction, Prentice Hall, 2009; Ching, F.D.K. Building Construction Illustrated, Wiley, 2008.

Learning Outcomes After successful  completion of the course, the student will be able to:
  1. Define basic requirements in terms of types of materials to be applied in various construction stages
  2. Identify potential problems in inapropriate use of materials, techniques and finished products
  3. Browse among various modern materials and how to apply them in architectural design
  4. Choose and apply appropriate waterproofing, vapour and thermal protection materials and techniques
  5. Demonstrate application of different sorts of finalized finish products in building construction
Teaching Methods Power Point and hand drawing presentations. Active tutorial sessions for engaged learning and continuous feedback on progress. Individual homework. Project design assignment (Building).
