IUS FENS Dean Shares Quality Assurance Expertise in UNSA Accreditation Process

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Altijana Hromić-Jahjefendić, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences (FENS), recently contributed her expertise as an external evaluator in the accreditation process of study programs at the University of Sarajevo’s Faculty of Medicine.

She served on an expert committee appointed through the Agency for Development of Higher Education and Quality Assurance of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HEA). Her role involved assessing the quality of study programs, their alignment with national and international higher education standards, and the institutional mechanisms supporting quality assurance.

External evaluation provides an opportunity to examine how academic programs meet established standards and how institutions support continuous improvement. It also enables the exchange of professional perspectives and good practices across the higher education sector.

Building on her previous involvement in international accreditation processes, including YÖKAK and ASIIN, this engagement further expanded Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hromić-Jahjefendić’s experience in external evaluation and accreditation procedures. It provided an additional opportunity to apply and develop expertise gained through work on academic quality assurance.

Her participation highlights the value of sharing expertise among higher education institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The knowledge and insights gained through such engagements also support IUS’s ongoing efforts to strengthen academic standards, refine quality assurance processes and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
